I am a fulltime artist / entrepreneur living and working on S,DÁYES ( Pender Island ), current and traditional lands of the WSÁNEĆ peoples of the Pacific Northwest.
My Tangled Garden series is a balance between spontaneous expression and the repetitive nature of stencilling. Whereas stencilling removes evidence of the hand from the work, I seek to put it back into play by way of freehand stencil cutting and impromptu illustrative linework. My work often verges on cacophonic suggesting an irrepressible life force. I explore themes of plant cultivation and eradication and the hierarchy that exists within our culture in terms of what we deem acceptable and what we seek to eliminate.
