I am a fulltime artist / entrepreneur living and working on S,DÁYES ( Pender Island ), traditional lands of the WSÁNEĆ peoples in the Pacific Northwest.
My Tangled Garden series is a balance between spontaneous expression and the repetitive nature of stencilling. Whereas stencilling removes evidence of the hand from the work, I seek to put it back into play by way of freehand stencil cutting. My work often verges on cacophonic suggesting an irrepressible life force. I explore themes of plant cultivation and eradication and the hierarchy that exists within our culture in terms of what we deem acceptable and what we find to be a nuisance.
